Job Summary:
As a Business Systems Analyst you will support systems, applications, reports, and data for Mutual Fund Accounting, a back-office function part of Thrivent’s Asset Management Division. This position will operate as a Developer on an existing Scrum Team that includes both Business System Analysts and IT Software Developers. This is an influential role with high visibility that requires high levels of collaboration, business analysis, and ownership to effectively support Mutual Fund Accounting’s highest business priorities, deliver value, and drive effective change.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Designing Solutions
- Review, analyze & evaluate complex business systems, processes, data, and user needs.
- Create visuals to enhance the analysis and understanding of the work.
- Drive change focused on maximizing business value and meeting user needs.
Quality Assurance
- Design and execute test strategies and cases.
- Identify and communicate the root cause of issues and errors.
- Maintain high standards of data quality and integrity.
Collaborating within the Scrum Team
- Participate in product planning and implementation.
- Help team understand and decompose work by creating user stories and tasks.
- Provide business expertise and analysis to solve problems and remove roadblocks.
- Support data quality and effective data governance as a Technical Data Steward.
Collaborating with Stakeholders and Business Partners
- Drive effective and efficient interactions for your Scrum Team with stakeholders and business partners.
- Work with subject matter experts to understand, capture, and communicate business and user needs.
Additional Business Support
- Build and support business reporting using PowerBI.
- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation to intake, diagnose, and support resolution of business issues.
- Create and execute complex SQL queries (joins, case statements, variables, functions).

Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 4-6+ years of experience in the business system analyst field or related area.
- Technical expertise and strong understanding within multiple (3+) functional areas.
- Moderate levels of analysis and independence.
- Solid working knowledge of systems design process and methodology as well as knowledge/use of systems tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with testing tools.
Desired Job Qualifications:
- General knowledge of investments/mutual funds, and related functions and data.
- General accounting knowledge or experience.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, particularly as a Developer on a Scrum Team.
- Experience working with software/technology development teams.
- Testing/Quality assurance experience.
- Experience with tools:
- Jira, QMetry, SQL, Visio, Miro, Microsoft 365 (including Access, Excel, Power Query, PowerBI, SharePoint).
Additional Information
- This position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN or Appleton, WI a minimum of two days a week.
