Our summer internship program is designed to give students relevant work experience in specific functions, providing a deeper understanding of the investment processes of a Fortune 500 financial services organization. The program offers interesting challenges, valuable experience, and an opportunity to get to know Thrivent. This internship is a key piece of Thrivent’s program to ensure a strong talent pipeline to meet the needs of the organization now and into the future. This is a tremendous internship opportunity to join Thrivent’s Investment team.
A Fixed Income Research Intern is offered the opportunity to support the research and analysis functions across various asset classes including the public investment grade and high yield bond markets, as well as the private debt market. This position will have daily interaction with portfolio managers, directors of research and senior research analysts across the fixed income teams based on candidate interest and need. We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in a career in fixed income and a knowledge of investment analysis. Qualified candidates will have excellent analytical problem solving and communication skills in addition to strong academic achievement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide research support for analyzing and underwriting bond investments, leveraged loans and/or convertible securities.

Monitoring credit risk and performance of existing investment holdings.

Perform independent research on industries and sectors within fixed income market.

Investment strategy support.

Participate and contribute to all aspects of the investment process including meetings with issuers and management.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Completed first year of graduate program with a demonstrated history of strong academic performance.

Working knowledge of accounting, finance, corporate strategy, and financial statistics.

Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making and mathematical skills. Programming skills if interested in opportunities in quantitative research.

Ability to take work direction from various leaders and work independently when needed.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel. Experience with investment tools such as FactSet and Bloomberg is a plus.
