Our technologists are involved in work that includes cloud native development, digital architecture and integration, automation, cloud data platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning as well as maximizing platforms such as Salesforce, AWS and Microsoft.The Continuity Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering business continuity and disaster programs. The work of the continuity engineer is performed under the guidance from a more Sr Continuity Engineer and the direction of the manager. This involves identifying critical information systems and assessing the risks to these systems' availability, integrity, or confidentiality. This also involves coordinating the planning, designing, testing and maintenance of contingency procedures and identified exposure.
The Continuity Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of disaster recovery management procedures across the enterprise, based on a thorough understanding of key technology services that must be maintained to reduce financial loss and critical customer service capability. This individual ensures response to system failures and is proactive in building processes to minimize/eliminate downtime. They develop, maintain, and execute the technology Disaster Recovery. They manage the process to ensure system and application availability based on Thrivent’s Business Continuity Plan requirements. They also establish and execute Disaster Recovery test exercises, provide consultation analysis, enforcement of quality assurance standards and overall expertise in the Disaster Recovery environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designing Solutions
-
Develop, implement and administer standards and procedures for recovery planning, and documentation.

Develop and implement procedures and programs for the continuity of system processes in a disaster situation.

Plan and monitor systems and business recovery testing. Test the recovery support, crisis management and business resumption procedures and strategies for different functional areas.

Evaluate environmental and equipment configurations for critical corporate resources.

Conduct business impact analysis both inside and outside the company and provide recommendations to management on recoverability.

Review complex changes in company resources and structure with the management of the critical business functions to ensure the effectiveness of recovery and backup capabilities.
Risk Control & Tracking

Participate in systems and business recovery compliance audit projects to ensure that recovery procedures are effective for the restoration and resumption of critical business processes.

Assess damage to computer hardware, vital records, etc., to determine what can be salvaged or restored and what must be replaced.

Coordinate and communicate between the technology and user communities for general requests associated with systems and business recovery programs.

Provide technical support to customers on recovery requirements for new technology solutions.

Seek out opportunities to learn new technologies that improve the product and its lifecycle.
Collaborating within the Team

Participate in team’s collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team

Recommend disaster avoidance and reduction measures. Develop systems and business recovery procedures and plans for key areas of the company to follow during a disaster or incident.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience

3 to 5 years of Continuity Engineering experience

Sound knowledge Industry Standard Continuity practices
-
Knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stability

Deep knowledge of Operating Systems
-
Ability to troubleshoot and conduct analysis
