The Vice President, Capacity Growth & Development will lead Center of Excellence (COE) focused on growing leader and advisor capacity and growing and developing our Thrivent Financial Advisors and Field Leaders. This individual will be responsible for partnering closely with our regional leadership teams to attract, select, onboard and launch new FAs and field leaders into Thrivent. This leader will collaborate across Thrivent to transform our new FA and field leader experience in support of Thrivent’s desire to become known for providing advisory services.

The VP of Capacity Growth & Development will be a key member of Thrivent’s Distribution Solutions Leadership Team reporting directly to Thrivent’s Senior Vice President, Distribution Solutions. Scope for this role encompasses partnering with regional field leadership including GVPs, 100+ field leaders, 700-1000 FAs in years 1-4, and 1,000-1,500 experienced FAs and leading the Center of Excellence focused on capacity growth and development.

This can be a remote position within the US.

The Vice President of Capacity Growth and Development leads the COE responsible for all strategic planning and execution for capacity growth and developing talent in the Thrivent Advisors channel including: 

  • Determining which Financial Advisors (FA) roles and contracts Thrivent will focus on recruiting 

  • Attracting high quality, diverse talent into financial advisor (FA) roles 

  • Supporting licensing and onboarding new Financial Advisors into Thrivent 

  • Encouraging new FAs are placed onto teams in markets 

  • Ensuring all new Financial Advisors are given the advisory, solutions and business tools, resources and knowledge needed in order to be successful in their new role through their first 4 years 

  • Supporting the Remote Advice Team in the licensing and onboarding of their advisors as well as any other enterprise licensed roles seeking support from the COE. 

  • Providing strong on-going training and development for all levels of financial advisors 

  • Recruiting, on-boarding and developing field leaders who can coach and develop their financial advisors in delivering advice to our clients 

  • Manage all training and development activities provided for the field workforce 

The Vice President of Advisor Growth partners with field leaders focused on growing F/a capacity in key markets to serve current clients and our target segments.  The VP will: 

  • Work with GVPs to ensure high talent field leaders are in place to grow our Financial Advisors at the group and market levels.  

  • Drive strong accountability so regional and market leaders deliver capacity growth, advisory services and solution sales in an economically viable manner for Thrivent. 

  • Focus resources in key markets with the most opportunity for Thrivent. 

The VP is responsible for guiding all COE functions for capacity growth and development including: 

  • Sourcing and attraction plans, including digital marketing, for new Financial Advisors and Field Leaders 

  • Selection criteria and interview process for Financial Advisors and Field Leaders 

  • New onboarding training including Advisor Foundations and Leader on-boarding and subsequent training 

  • Ongoing FA training including practice management, advice support, product knowledge, marketing, etc. 

  • Working to ensure lead support from Marketing and Membership for new FAs 

  • Working to ensure new FAs are connected into Thrivent’s unique affinity marketplace and Christian connections. 

As a corporate leader, the VP of Capacity Growth and Development provides strategic leadership for new strategies, programs and initiatives that impact and drive capacity growth and advisory services in the field. This role must collaborate well across Distribution to drive Thrivent’s overall goals.  

The VP of Capacity Growth and Development will model Thrivent’s leadership competencies. Qualifications:

Required:  

  • 4-year College Degree in business, management or related business field or equivalent 

  • Demonstrated experience (10+ years) leading talent acquisition, talent management and learning and development teams in a sales focused or financial services organization 

  • Demonstrated vision and strategic leadership skills along with strong influencing abilities  

  • Experience with effectively leading through change; Passionate about leading on a large scale through others and leveraging systems to engage people and drive results 

  • Extensive record of success in growing sales leaders and sales professionals 

  • Demonstrated track record of attracting, selecting and developing an advisory and leadership team. 

  • Effectively able to represent the Society to its clients, lodges, and in communities. 

  • Ability to travel as needed to cover region, Thrivent and industry functions. 

   Preferred:    

  • In-depth knowledge of advice, insurance products, asset/wealth management, fee-based planning, mutual funds and securities.   

  • Appropriate FINRA and insurance licensing (Series 7, 24 and 65/66) 

  • MBA and/or other related advanced education preferred.
