The Supervisor, Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) assumes a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 24x7 GSOC, guiding a team responsible for tasks ranging from access control to emergency incident management. This position ensures adequate staffing of a team consisting of both internal and contract security personnel. The GSOC Supervisor is involved in coordinating the response to diverse security incidents that could impact the employees, assets, or reputation of the organization, dealing with scenarios like extreme weather, political instability, travel emergencies or technical failures by employing various tools and intelligence sources. The position requires adept problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail, focusing on maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures while providing effective communication of incident information to Thrivent leadership at various levels. Additionally, the GSOC Supervisor oversees specific operations, coaches a team, and monitors call volumes and incident reports to ensure optimal service delivery.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate GSOC responses to emergencies, facilitate crisis communications, and triage workplace incidents at both corporate and remote Advisor Group office including medical response, severe weather, and civil unrest.
  • Supervise GSOC teams, assign tasks, conduct ongoing coaching, ensure operational readiness, and conduct shift briefings.
  • Maintain situational awareness of events impacting personnel safety, manage sensitive situations, ensuring confidentiality, and handle life safety incidents, coordinating response efforts.
  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.
  • Manage scheduling for a 24/7 Security Monitoring Center, provide administrative support, evaluate and adjust resource allocation as needed and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training for GSOC Operators, facilitate tabletop exercises and manage training exercises with GSOC leadership.
  • Work with department leadership to develop, revise, and maintain GSOC processes, systems, protocols and identifying process improvements.
  • Identify and resolve security alarms, oversee quality control, staffing, and operational functions.

    • Managers and/or Directors at Thrivent


Required Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in leading, coaching, and positively influencing team members in a corporate security environment.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Knowledge of security technology and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to analyze problems, identify causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including with different levels of leadership and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in a high-tech, fast-paced environment, willing to learn new tools and innovations.
  • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under pressure or in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to utilize the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) or a variant during security incidents.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment and willingness to assist with overtime when needed.
  • Strong customer service skills, providing superior service nationwide facilities.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and knowledgeable about news and current events.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity, and commitment to upholding organizational values.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to ethics and organizational values, demonstrating integrity in work practices.


Preferred:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a Global Security Operations Center, or related roles.
  • Experience conducting research/analysis and using data to make informed decisions.
  • Degree in fields like Criminal Justice, Political Science, Business Management, Criminology, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in utilizing security systems including access control, CCTV, and alarm monitoring systems.
  • FEMA ISC 100, ASIS APP, TMA Level 1 & Level 2
