Job Summary

Executes securities purchases and sales authorized by portfolio manager or within the confines of the money market approved list and 2a7 guidelines. Develops and maintains relationships with securities dealers. Provides portfolio manager with ongoing information about market sentiment, trading environment, volume, volatility, and relative value trade opportunities.

Develops and maintains information on credit ratings of corporate, agency, municipal, state, and/or federal fixed-income issuers.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Executes trades authorized by portfolio manager or within the confines of the money market approved list and 2a7 guidelines.
  • Assists Portfolio Manager in overseeing daily liquidity of assets through detailed market analyses and evaluation of competitive bids for all trades of short-term securities.
  • Assists Portfolio Manager in developing, modifying, and adhering to portfolio strategies to maximize return while minimizing risk across multiple accounts with varying compliance and regulatory restrictions.
  • Provides relevant market intelligence, sentiment and pricing information to portfolio manager as needed or requested.
  • Develops and presents trading and relative valuation opportunities to portfolio manager. 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with securities dealers and counterparties including sales coverage and traders.
  • Develops and maintains information on credit ratings of corporate, agency, municipal, state, and/or federal fixed-income issuers.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or related discipline is required.
  • At least 2 years experience in institutional investment trading, operations or other relevant roles.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.

Preferred:

  • Master of Business Administration, Finance or other advanced degree in a relevant field and/or CFA designation or demonstrated progress towards completion of either/both is preferred.
  • Experience with Bloomberg or Blackrock Solution’s Alladin OMS desirable.

Additional Information

  • This position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $85,982.00 - $116,328.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
