A Convertible Bond Research Intern is offered the opportunity to support the research and analysis functions of the Convertible Bond Team. This position will have daily interaction with the two portfolio managers, and our senior research analyst. We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in a career in securities analysis and investment management. Qualified candidates will have excellent analytical problem solving and communication skills in addition to strong academic achievement.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide research support for analyzing and underwriting convertible bond investments.

Perform Equity Analysis using fundamental and technical analysis on specific underlying stocks of bonds held in the portfolios

Perform credit analysis of companies whose securities are held in the portfolios

Analyze new issues for suitability for the portfolios

Perform independent research on industries and sectors within capital markets

Participate in and contribute to all aspects of the investment process

Observe portfolio management decisions and participate in risk analysis

Develop Bloomberg and Factset skills
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Completed first year of graduate program with a demonstrated history of strong academic performance.

Working knowledge of accounting, finance, corporate strategy, and financial statistics.

Working toward CFA designation strongly preferred

Strong interest in the investment process and security selection

Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making and mathematical skills

Ability to take work direction from various leaders as well as work independently

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel

Experience with investment tools such as FactSet and/or Bloomberg is a plus
OTHER CRITICAL FACTORS

A full-time internship for 12 weeks (minimum)

Proficient in all Microsoft Office Tools, particularly Excel

Able to work in the United States for indefinite period without sponsorship

The applicable hourly wage range for this full-time role is $45.00-$65.00 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
