Job Summary
The Data Integrity Analyst plays a critical role in data governance, security master content management, and resolving financial data discrepancies as they relate to security master records. The Data Integrity Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of accuracy, reliability, and consistency of organizational data across critical business systems. This role serves as a link between technical and business teams, helping identify, assess, and remediate data quality issue to minimize business risk and enable high-quality decision-making. The analyst develops automated validations, performs root cause analyses, and works proactively to support data governance initiatives ensuring data supports decision-making and compliance requirements. You are expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of data processes and serve as a subject matter expert on specific data domains.
The role involves daily oversight of investment data such as holdings, transactions, security master data, pricing, and benchmarks. Working cross-functionally with operations, technology, and external data providers you will ensure that data issues are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly to minimize business risk and support high-quality decision-making. You will escalate more complex data management issues to senior analysts and leaders.
The Data Integrity Analyst is a key member of the Thrivent Data Integrity team. This team that supports the investment management process by ensuring the accuracy and quality of the Security Master File and related security data. Additionally, this team is focused on enhancing the data experience for investment teams and downstream consumers, ensuring the validity and consistency of security data across the organization.
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong attention to detail, baseline understanding of financial or investments industry and a passion for data quality in the investment space.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Analyze and interpret data quality reports to identify trends and anomalies.
- Validate and reconcile investment data including transactions, holdings, pricing, and benchmarks between internal systems and external sources.
- Serve as a point of contact for front office, compliance, and performance teams regarding data-related queries.
- Perform Security Master File creation, review, and maintenance in the IBOR (Investment Book of Record) system.
- Create documentation of data standards, data workflows and contribute to the development of data integrity policies and controls ensuring adherence.
- Maintain clear and accurate data integrity procedures and documentation ensuring up-to-data integrity process procedures.
- Participate in Data Governance and Data Quality practices including engagement with key business partners and consumers.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, investment teams, compliance and IT to provide security data support and correct data issues.
- Influence and support the enhancement, management, and ongoing maintenance of security master content.
- Support automation initiatives by identifying areas for process improvement and assisting with system testing and enhancement validation.
- Monitor key data pipelines and exception reports for integrity issues; analyze root causes and implement remediation actions in a timely manner.; escalate issues as needed.
- Perform data analysis to manage and maintain integrity targets; validate and verify data attributes using appropriate data verification tools to enhance data quality.
- Assist with the SMF updates and maintenance as a result of the Cash and Position reconciliation teams.
- Escalate complex data issues to senior analysts or leader with appropriate documentation.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business, finance, accounting or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data quality, data integrity, data governance, data management, financial data analysis or related investment operations experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal customers.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.
- Familiarity with investment systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Eagle, LSEG, PAM, InvestOne, Aladdin, or Markit EDM).
- Understanding of database structure, data governance frameworks, and data tools such as SQL and data visualization platforms.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Continuous learning mindset and approach to understand data processes and use data systems and tools.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and high degree of accuracy.
- Intermediate Microsoft office skills with emphasis in using Excel and working with larger datasets.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with various product types within the fixed income and equity markets, including Government Securities, Mortgage-Backed Securities, Investment Grade Bonds, High Yield Bonds, Emerging Market Debt, Sovereign Bonds, Global Securities, Structured Products, CLOs, Bank Loans, Derivatives, Municipal Bonds, Money Market Instruments, Private Debt, Private Equity and Public Equites.
- Experience working under tight timelines with competing demands.
- Experience working with data from financial data aggregator(s) (e.g. Refinitiv, FactSet, S&P, Bloomberg).
- Basic SQL or data querying skills.
Additional Information
- This position requires you to work on-site in Minneapolis, MN a minimum of three days a week and subject to change in the future.
