Your journey begins with a summer internship where you’ll work on high-impact technology projects that strengthen the digital backbone of Thrivent.
You’ll apply what you’ve learned in school to real-world challenges—building secure infrastructure, supporting enterprise-scale systems, and developing tools that power financial guidance for out clients. Whether you’re automating processes, refining data pipelines, or improving application performance, your work directly supports the stability, innovation, and growth of our business.
You’ll also sharpen your communication and problem-solving skills, learning how to present your solutions to engineers, architects, and senior tech leaders.
Summer Internship Experience
Our engineering internship is a paid, 12-week long immersive program that gives you the experience, insights, and projects needed to successfully transition into a full-time role. From a dedicated 1:1 mentor that’s coaching and invested in your growth, to the thriving intern community that’s providing weekly social and networking events, our goal is your success.
Your development continues with the support from our team of over 800 technologists and engineers. Whether that means engaging directly with senior leadership to understand how decisions are made or meeting with a peer about career development, your long-term success at Thrivent is front and center.
Rotational Program
Successfully completing your internship sets you up for the opportunity to be selected for a full-time role in our structured rotational program. This program focuses on you gaining experience in the primary areas of engineering at Thrivent. It gives you the experience to understand the big picture and learn what parts you like (and don't).

Previous Intern Project: Application Performance Monitoring Dashboard
Build a real-time monitoring dashboard that visualizes API response times, error rates, and usage trends across critical client-facing applications—enabling faster issue detection and improved system reliability.
Previous Intern Project: Identity Access Review Automation
Design and implement an automated process to validate access rights across cloud-based applications, reducing manual review time and strengthening compliance with internal security protocols.
Previous Intern Project: DevOps Pipeline Optimization
Evaluate the existing CI/CD pipeline for our digital onboarding platform and identify areas to improve deployment speed, testing coverage, and rollback strategies—resulting in a more efficient and resilient delivery process.
Previous Intern Project: Data Quality Validator for Financial Reporting
Develop a Python-based validation tool that flags anomalies and schema mismatches in data feeds used for regulatory and financial reporting—enhancing data accuracy and reducing reconciliation time for key business units.
