Execute cloud native development, digital architecture and integration, automation, cloud data platforms, artificial intelligence, and machine learning as well as maximizing platforms such as Salesforce, AWS and Microsoft. Work on all phases of application development and software development life cycle. Deliver the right resources on initiatives in a timely and effective manner while ensuring data quality. Measure data quality using our front-end instrumentation, AWS Logs and relevant analytical data to measure user journeys. Act as the subject matter expert for the assigned technology solutions. Design, develop, and deploy applications to cloud. Assist with architecture and lead the analysis and design for current business solutions, accounting for future business needs. Understand the business needs and translates into technical plans and processes within the functional area across multiple technology domains. Mitigate risk within assigned assets, technologies and platforms within a functional area. Develop and maintain program documentation. Assist with research, design and develop architectural artifacts relevant to the team deliverables. Coordinate the functionality used by software applications, including change management, security and authentication, disaster recovery planning, support for data access, system configurations and reports. Make technical currency decisions related to vendor management. Participate in setting architectural and technical standards across the organization and influence and implement these changes. Document back-end system integrations and develop required designs to support any changes to back-end systems interfaces. Engage in proof-of-concept development and ideation sessions with peers to develop new trends and techniques for continuous improvement to our products. Coordinate technical staff implementing and coordinating of system upgrades and enhancements. Provide technical thought leadership on all sized efforts within a functional area. Mentor and train new or less experienced team members. Serve as the technical expert on development efforts.Requirements:
Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or closely related field, and 7 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience as a technical lead or specialist engaged in digital engineering associated with wealth management, annuities and insurance products and services within or for the financial services sector.
Must possess the following experience: At least 7 years building modern web applications; At least 4 years in lead role; At least 2 years of designing and implementing data storage using NoSQL database like DynamoDB; At least 1 year of experience in creating event driven applications using framework like Kafka; Documented experience with the following: (1) React, TypeScript, React Hooks, and component
driven architecture (state management, composition, performance); (2) Next.js SSR/SSG and SEO centric rendering strategies; deploying and operating workloads in AWS (configurations, deployments, data stores, security); (3) Agile/DevOps practices: trunk based development, CI/CD, automation, observability, and incident aware engineering; (4) Node.js, GraphQL,Vite/Webpack, Storybook, and performance profiling (Lighthouse, Web Vitals; using and interpreting information from Observability and Monitoring tools like DataDog, ELK, Cloudwatch (5) collaboration with Java services and eventing stacks (Spring ecosystem, Hibernate ORM); (6) designing/consuming REST and SOAP services in production.
AWS certification (Solutions Architect – Associate, or Solutions Architect –Professional, or DevOps Engineer) or certification from other major cloud providers (Azure or GCP) required.
Position is based out of and reports to Thrivent Financial’s HQ in Minneapolis, MN, but allows for the option to telecommute from a home office anywhere in the United States. Must be willing and able to travel to HQ offices in Minneapolis at least 10% of time.
Salary: at least $156,000/year
